I photographed Katy Perry a few weeks ago at the Forum Theatre. I didn’t bring it. Sort of got the impression Katy Perry didn’t bring it, either. Regardless of the somewhat underwhelming performance, my love for Hot N Cold will never wane. Epic song.

Phoenix - those French pop maestros - made their long awaited return to Australia last week, helping set August off on the right foot for quite a few. Touring in support of their fourth album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix the lads had plenty of new material to showcase since their last visit. The setlist they outlayed for their fans was a crowd pleaser from song one:
1. Lisztomania
2. Long Distance Call
3. Consolation Prizes
4. Lasso
5. Napoleon Says
6. Funky Square Dance
7. Rally
8. Girlfriend
9. Sometimes In The Fall
10. Armistice
11. Love Like A Sunset Part I
12. Love Like A Sunset Part II
13. Run Run Run
14. Too Young
15. Rome
Encore
16. Everything is Everything
17. If I Ever Feel Better
18. 1901

Their last Australian tour was thanks to V Festival’s debut outing, which saw them warm stages for Jarvis Cocker and The Pet Shop Boys, along with headlining two small shows in Sydney. During that tour I took one of my favourite photos of all time - it was of Phoenix on stage at the Myer Music Bowl. I rarely think of the bigger picture while I’m shooting, so this one surprised me more than anyone:

This tour saw them take up headline spots in decidedly larger venues - selling out all shows in just a day, leaving many Nova listeners pining for tickets. Shame.
